The new complaint comes after Arvind Kejriwal declined to appear before the agency on Monday for the ninth time since November 2 last year, calling the summons “illegal” and “politically motivated”.

A high-ranking member of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) “the fresh complaint under sections 174 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), read with section 63 (4) of prevention of money laundering act (PMLA) has been filed before the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM), Rouse Avenue Court, for non-attendance (for questioning)” .

The laws under which the new charge against Arvind Kejriwal has been lodged concern noncompliance with a summons given to an individual. The ACMM court has scheduled the hearing for Thursday.

A similar complaint was made by the financial crimes investigation agency on February 3. At that time, the court took cognizance of the case and called Arvind Kejriwal. He appeared virtually before the court on February 17, and was spared from physical attendance until March 16.
