Startup Mahakumbh, the largest celebration of Indian startups scheduled to be held from March 18-20, 2024 at Bharat Mandapam and ITPO, New Delhi, will host climate champions from corporates, startups, investors, government bodies, and ecosystem stakeholders seeking to play a role in India’s evolving sustainability landscape, showcasing the best technologies and innovations from around the world relevant to addressing India’s climate issues.

Going beyond usual focus areas, the event aims to extend perspectives on some of India’s important climate opportunities, such as hydrogen, alternative fuels, energy storage, EVs, water management, green buildings, alt-protein, and other relevant topics.

During the three-day mega event, participants may expect:

The pavilion will also serve as a networking hub for current and aspiring entrepreneurs, allowing them to interact with pioneers and sustainability innovators such as Ather Energy, Waaree Energies, Nepra, Global Initiative for a Sustainable Tomorrow, Exponent Energy, Indra Water, and Varaha, among others, and gain valuable insights into addressing India’s climate challenges.

Startup Mahakumbh, India’s largest startup event, has established a statewide contest to recognize and promote inventions that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to have a good societal impact. The ‘AI for Public Good’ competition welcomes entrepreneurs, research labs, institutions, independent developers, and students to demonstrate AI-powered solutions.
Startup Mahakumbh Participants will have the opportunity to present their AI solutions in a variety of categories, including affordable healthcare and assistive technology, education accessibility, human rights and social justice, governance efficiency, economic equity and empowerment, climate change mitigation, disaster response and relief, public safety and security, infrastructure and transportation, and agricultural development.
“We believe that for the first time in human history, we have a technology like AI that has the power to drive significant improvements towards sustainable development goals (SDGs) to improve the lives of billions of Indians,” said Umakant Soni, Chairman of AI Foundry and Co-founder and former CEO of ARTPARK. “Through this Startup Mahakumbh contest, we aim to recognise and support innovators who are using AI to address some of the most pressing challenges facing our society today.
” Hari Balasubramanian, an angel investor and mentor, stated that he is constantly on the lookout for new firms that use technology to tackle real-world problems. “The AI contest at Startup Mahakumbh is a fantastic opportunity for startups to gain recognition and support for their impactful work,” stated Mr. Singh.

“We are excited to see the innovative solutions that participants will bring forward,” said Anagh Prasad, Accel Investor. “This contest is not just about winning; it’s about making a meaningful impact on society and shaping the future of AI for the better.” In addition to getting attention for their unique work, competitors will be eligible to win a cash award of Rs 500,000 for the top six initiatives presented.
Projects submitted to the contest must be based on AI technologies and address one or more of the public challenges identified in the award categories. Submissions must include a project summary, implementation details, an effect assessment, and any applicable demos or prototypes. Teams can include individuals or organizations from startups, research institutes, universities, indie developers, and students.
